One of the least noted but yet most important point is that: the opening of the sixth seal and the beginning of the great day of God’s wrath will not take place until the full number of those to be killed as martyrs is complete. Jerusalem was charged and then destroyed in 70 A.D..because of the blood shed from Abel to the prophet Zechariah. (Matthew 23:33-36) This great day of wrath is for much more. This will be the blood of prophets and saints and all those slain on the earth. (Revelation 18:24) The number is not yet full.
Revelation 6:9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.
This same group of martyrs will have part in the judgments brought on the wicked in the great day of God’s wrath. As long as Christians are being killed for their faith that day has not come. As long as the sons of the kingdom and the sons of the wicked one are living in the same field; the end of the age has not yet come.
